How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Budgeted CP alternating least squares
Definition
Work in exact arithmetic over . Inputs are a tensor , a proposed CP component count , initial factor matrices , and a finite sweep budget . The objective is On every exit, return the tuple , where is evaluated from the factor matrices as they stand at that exit. If , return the empty factor matrices, the zero model, and status “rank-zero-model” immediately. If , return the current factors and model with status “budget-exhausted”. Otherwise, for each of at most sweeps, visit modes in that order. With the other factors fixed, form whose rows are indexed by all tuples and whose column is The mode- unfolding model is . If is not full column rank, halt and return the current factors and model with status “rank-deficient-design”; no factor has changed at this block. If it has full column rank, solve the equivalent adjoint problem and replace by . The matrix has full column rank, so the minimizer is unique by Full-column-rank matrix least squares has a unique minimizer. After each completed sweep, increment the sweep counter. Return the current factors and model with status “budget-exhausted” after the th completed sweep. This finite-budget procedure guarantees neither convergence nor a global best CP approximation.

3 results within one dependency step of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
