How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Landweber iteration with discrepancy and budget statuses

Definition

Assume Countable Choice, as required for the Hilbert-space adjoint in the iteration.

Let X,Y be real or complex Hilbert spaces, let A:X→Y be a nonzero compact linear operator, and let ω satisfy 0<ω<2/∥A∥2. The input consists of data yδ∈Y, a noise bound δ≥0, a discrepancy factor τ>1, and a finite iteration budget N∈N. Define the associated infinite mathematical path by x0=0 and xk+1=xk+ωA∗(yδ−Axk),k≥0. For the finite procedure, evaluate only the prefix through index N, in increasing order, and return at its first stopping condition. Values of the mathematical path after an earlier return remain defined by the recurrence but need not be computed by an implementation.

For k=0,…,N in increasing order, compute rk=yδ−Axk. If ∥rk∥≤τδ, return (xk,k,discrepancy). If k=N, return (xk,k,budget-exhausted). Otherwise set xk+1=xk+ωA∗(yδ−Axk).

The procedure uses exact Hilbert-space operations. It reports a finite-budget failure to cross as inconclusive; that status is not a convergence conclusion.

Dependency tree · two levels

36 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
