How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Product block encoding with separate ancillas

Definition

Inputs. An integer n≥1, square matrices A,B∈Cn×n, positive normalizations αA,αB, and unitaries UA,UB giving (αA,aA,εA) and (αB,aB,εB) block encodings, with αA≥∥A∥op and αB≥∥B∥op. Their access and implementation costs are supplied separately under Block-encoding oracle and implementation cost model.

Construction. Put the ancillas in the fixed order A-ancilla, B-ancilla, system. Let VA act by UA on the A-ancilla and system and by the identity on the B-ancilla. Let VB act by UB on the B-ancilla and system and by the identity on the A-ancilla. Return the unitary W:=VAVB, so VB acts first, and use all aA+aB ancillas for the projected block. No intermediate measurement or reset is performed. The resulting normalization is αAαB.

Remarks

The precise normalized product error bound is proved in Product block-encoding error bound.

Dependency tree · two levels

29 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
