How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite capped quantum quantile minimum
Definition
Supply a finite coherent sampler , its inverse, an exactly ordered finite score/label encoding, and a reversible exact comparison circuit. Supply controlled versions when used, the all-zero input reflection , and the reflection for the predicate score strictly smaller than an incumbent . Each preparation retains its value/label work; every named access, comparison, reflection, gate and numerical precision cost is charged. The input quantile parameter is an integer , with rational confidence .
A trial first samples an incumbent using . Set its charged counter to one. To search for an improvement, use stages , with and worst-case stage charge for preparation/inverse/reflection calls. Before starting a stage that would exceed total charge, stop the trial and return its incumbent. Otherwise charge that amount and do the following:
- Take one fresh direct sample. If its score is strictly smaller, replace the incumbent and restart at .
- If not, draw at most five independent blocks of unbiased bits and use the first resulting integer . If every draw is out of range, treat this stage as failed and increase . For the zero-bit draw is .
- If an index was accepted, prepare a fresh , apply copies of , and measure the score/label. Verify the same exact comparison. On improvement replace the incumbent and restart at ; otherwise increase .
Run independent trials, where is the least positive integer for which the exact rational comparison holds; find it by repeated rational multiplication and comparison. Return their least measured score and label. The loop is finite because by the binomial theorem. Integer square-root ceilings use integer squaring comparisons; powers, ceilings, comparisons, and bit generation have their finite classical costs. The query theorem is Quantile minimum and coherent-score nondomination guarantee ↗.

22 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
