How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Primal revised simplex with Bland's rule

Definition

Input the exact standard-form data of Revised simplex standard-form linear program with full-row-rank A and a primal-feasible basis B as in Basis dictionaries and reduced costs for revised simplex. Use exact arithmetic. At each iteration compute xB=AB−1b, y=AB−TcB, and all nonbasic reduced costs cˉj=cj−ajTy.

  1. If every nonbasic cˉj≥0, return optimal with x(B) and y.
  2. Otherwise choose the least index j∉B with cˉj<0 and solve ABd=aj.
  3. If no component di is positive, return unbounded with the ray whose jth component is 1, whose basic components are −d, and whose other nonbasic components are 0.
  4. Otherwise compute θ=min⁡di>0xBi/di. Among minimizing rows, leave the basic variable of least index. Replace its basis column by aj and repeat.

The algorithm assumes an exact initial feasible basis. It makes no iteration bound polynomial in m or n.

2 results within one dependency step of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
