How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Deterministic weighted spectral clustering with explicit isolate and eigenspace conventions

Definition

Inputs. Integers n,p≥1, data x1,…,xn∈Rp, a fixed deterministic graph-construction procedure G:(Rp)n→Rn×n, mode ratio or normalized, and cluster count k≥1. In normalized mode also supply a Boolean row-normalization option, defaulting to false.

  1. Compute W=G(x1,…,xn). Reject the input unless W is symmetric, entrywise nonnegative, and zero-diagonal. Set di=∑jwij, D=diag⁡(di), L=D−W, and V+={i:di>0}.

  2. In ratio mode require k≤n, use all vertices in increasing index order, and set M=L. In normalized mode, if V+=∅, return every vertex as a separately reported singleton with status no-positive-degree-vertices. Otherwise require k≤∣V+∣, use only V+ in increasing index order, and set M=D+−1/2L+D+−1/2.

  3. Compute the exact real eigenspaces of M and order its eigenvalues increasingly with multiplicity. For each eigenspace Eλ, use the deterministic projected-coordinate basis rule: for λ=0, first use n−1/21 in ratio mode or D+1/21/∑i∈V+di in normalized mode; then process the standard coordinate vectors in vertex order, project each onto Eλ, orthogonalize against accepted vectors, skip zero residuals, and normalize each nonzero residual. Take the first k eigenvectors as columns of U.

  4. In normalized mode, if row normalization is true, replace each row ui by ui/∥ui∥2, where ∥v∥2=∑j=1kvj2. The prescribed first zero-mode vector has positive entries on every active vertex, so every active row norm is positive.

  5. Treat the rows of U as points in Rk with Euclidean distance ∥a−b∥2. Initialize the first Lloyd center at the row whose vertex index is smallest among the vertices selected in Step 2. For each subsequent center, choose an unused row maximizing its minimum distance to previously chosen centers, breaking ties by smallest vertex index. Assign each row initially to a nearest center, breaking ties by smallest center index. At each later assignment retain its current label when it is among the nearest centers; otherwise choose the smallest nearest-center index. Replace each nonempty center by the mean of its assigned rows, leave empty-cluster centers unchanged, and repeat until both labels and centers stop changing.

  6. Return the nonempty label sets. In normalized mode append every isolate as a separately reported singleton. Graph rule, edge weights, bandwidth, kNN symmetrization, and cluster count are modeling inputs; this procedure makes no rounding, approximation, graph-consistency, or manifold-recovery guarantee.

Dependency tree · two levels

12 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
