How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Good fundamental groups for the disk-embedding theorem

Definition

Let Γ be a group. Say that Γ is good for the Freedman disk-embedding theorem when it has the π1-null disk property: for every disk-like capped grope Gc of height 1.5 with a chosen basepoint and every homomorphism ϕ:π1(Gc)→Γ, there is a proper framed generic immersion d:D2↬Gc of a disk into the grope's actual four-dimensional framed block. Its boundary is the core attaching circle, with the normal framing specified by the attaching solid-torus neighborhood, and each double-point loop of d, regarded after basing as an element of π1(Gc), is sent to the identity by ϕ. This definition of a good group is a hypothesis on Γ; it does not assert that any particular group is good.

1 result within one dependency step of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
