How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Piecewise-linear product integration for a half-order diagonal singularity

Definition

Let X:=C([0,1],R) and let a:[0,1]2→R be continuous. Use Sx from The half-order diagonal singularity defines a bounded improper integral to define (Ku)(x):=Sx(y↦a(x,y)u(y)). For an integer n≥1, set h:=1/n and yj:=jh for j=0,…,n. Define the nonnegative piecewise-linear hat functions by ϕn,0(y):=max⁡(1−y/h,0),ϕn,n(y):=max⁡(1−(1−y)/h,0), and, for 1≤j<n, ϕn,j(y):=max⁡(1−∣y−yj∣/h,0). Their piecewise-linear interpolant is Ing:=∑j=0ng(yj)ϕn,j. The product weights and product-integration operator are wn,j(x):=Sx(ϕn,j),(Knu)(x):=∑j=0nwn,j(x)a(x,yj)u(yj)=Sx(In(y↦a(x,y)u(y))). The kernel factor s(x,y)=∣x−y∣−1/2 is integrated in the weights; the smooth factor a(x,y)u(y) is interpolated. This item defines the pointwise formulas; the subsequent results on this page establish their mapping properties, stability, and error estimates.

Dependency tree · two levels

18 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
