How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Minimax squared operator risk
Definition
Let be a family of probability laws on a common measurable sample space , and let be a specified matrix parameter for each , with fixed . Give its usual Euclidean topology and Borel sigma-algebra. An estimator is a measurable map . Define its squared operator risk at and the minimax risk over by
For a family of one-observation laws on a common measurable space , specify a matrix parameter for every , with fixed . For an integer , the -observation experiment observes independent observations, each with law . Its sample space is and its sample law is the finite product probability measure ; this is the joint law of the IID family in Identical distribution and IID families and Independent random elements. For estimators , define
An infinite expectation is allowed, so every measurable estimator has an extended nonnegative risk. Suprema of risks are taken in the ordered range , with , its least element. Thus when or is empty the corresponding supremum is zero for every estimator, and its minimax risk is zero. The estimator class is nonempty because the constant zero matrix map is measurable. The operator norm is from The operator norm is zero on the zero domain and otherwise is max_{||v||=1} ||Tv||.

Dependency tree · two levels
31 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
