How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Nadaraya–Watson estimator

Definition

Assume AC as in Regression target and chosen version. Fix a sample size n≥1, a prediction point x∈R, a bandwidth h>0, a finite-valued nonnegative Borel function K:R→[0,∞), and a fixed fallback a0∈R. For data (Xi,Yi)i=1n, put Dn,h(x)=∑i=1nK((x−Xi)/h). The Nadaraya–Watson estimator of the pointwise target m(x) is m^NW,h(x)={∑i=1nK((x−Xi)/h)YiDn,h(x),Dn,h(x)>0,a0,Dn,h(x)=0. For fixed x,h,n, this is a Borel statistic on (R2)n with its product Borel sigma-algebra: each weight, product, and finite sum is Borel; the positive-denominator set is Borel, and division is continuous there. In any statistical experiment on this sample space whose pointwise regression estimand is ψx(θ)=mθ(x), with mθ the selected version from Regression target and chosen version, it is an estimator of ψx in the sense of Statistics and estimators. The fallback is part of the definition. Kernel regularity and bandwidth assumptions used for bias or variance results are stated in those results.

Dependency tree · two levels

9 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
