How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
RT state spaces from a modular category
Definition
Fix a complex modular ribbon fusion category as in Modular ribbon fusion category and Hopf-link data, with finite simple-label set , tensor unit , and dual label for each . Define the handle object
For an oriented marked surface of genus with ordered marked points labeled by objects , fix a parametrization and the standard handle decomposition used to read its labels. The associated algebraic state space is
The empty tensor product is and . Reversing the orientation of a marked boundary circle replaces its label by the left dual . This formula defines a vector space only; mapping-class operators, bordism maps, independence of parametrization, and gluing are not asserted here.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A modular ribbon fusion category, a parametrized genus- marked surface, and its ordered boundary labels.
The category is complex linear, finite semisimple, has finite-dimensional morphism spaces, finitely many simple labels, and chosen left duals (Modular ribbon fusion category and Hopf-link data, Fusion and multifusion categories, Rigid object and rigid monoidal category).
Proof
Given: The data in the Statement.
The direct sum defining is finite because is finite. Each tensor product in the displayed target is an object of , and finite semisimplicity makes its Hom space from the unit a finite-dimensional complex vector space. Thus the formula is a well-defined finite-dimensional vector space for the fixed parametrization and label order.
The formula at is , since the fusion category has simple unit and . Reversing a boundary orientation uses the chosen dual object, so every label in the formula has a specified domain and codomain.

13 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
