How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Degree-indexed spherical harmonic spaces in three dimensions
Definition
Let with its usual surface-area measure , normalized so . For an integer , let be the complex vector space of restrictions to of homogeneous degree- polynomials satisfying . Give the inner product , linear in the first argument. An orthonormal basis is not fixed by this definition; the addition-theorem item proves that and that such a finite basis exists.
If is later chosen from an orthonormal basis and , its associated homogeneous harmonic polynomial is . At use the polynomial value: and for . This is the regular-solid-harmonic convention used in the 3D evaluator.
