How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Affine anisotropic flux on a skew parallelogram
Example
Take the single parallelogram cell with vertices , tensor , and affine state . Prescribe on each boundary face its exact face mean. The cell center is and the face centers, in bottom/right/top/left order, are . This cell is skew: its right and left face normals are not parallel to the vectors from the cell center to those face centers.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The skew parallelogram, , the affine function , and the hybrid mimetic reconstruction and flux conventions.
Hybrid mimetic finite-volume diffusion on general meshes: , the residual is , and the outward mimetic flux is .
Coercivity, monotonicity, conservation, and affine exactness of the mimetic schemes: for affine states the mimetic flux is exactly .
Verification
The cell area is . The face data , in bottom/right/top/left order, are Their weighted normals sum to and , so the cell satisfies the face-moment closure in [F1].
The cell and face means of are and . Substitution into [F1] gives and hence . Each residual is zero: for example, on the bottom face , and the same dot-product identity holds for the other three face centers.
We have . By [F2], the outward integrated fluxes in bottom/right/top/left order are , respectively. Their sum is zero, which is the exact cell balance for the affine state since its flux is constant and has zero divergence. This verifies affine consistency and local conservation on this skew, anisotropic cell.

Dependency tree · one level
3 results within one dependency step of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
