How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A certified residual enclosure remains valid for an ill-conditioned 2 by 2 solve
Example
Let These point data have a usable residual certificate with and . Its certified error radius equals the actual error even though the spectral condition number of is .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The exact dyadic matrix, right-hand side, inverse candidate, and approximate solution displayed above.
A usable residual certificate gives a unique solution within (A uniform approximate inverse and residual enclose every linear solution).
The point case of the residual certificate is specified by and (Verified point and uniform linear residual certificate data).
Verification
Direct multiplication gives , so . Also and , whose Euclidean norm is . Thus [F2] holds with .
The exact solution is , so . The singular values of this positive diagonal matrix are and , hence its condition number is . Applying [F1] gives the same error radius , which contains the solution with equality.

Dependency tree · two levels
6 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
