How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A two-stratum standardization and IPW calculation
Example
Let with equal probabilities, let and , and set and . Generate using the stated conditional law and define . Because both potential outcomes are functions of , conditional exchangeability holds; positivity holds in both strata.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The finite probability law and potential outcomes in the Example, with consistency and AC for the conditional-expectation conventions.
The example uses the point-treatment potential-outcome convention of Potential outcomes and consistency.
Standardization averages the treatment-specific observed mean over the law of . (Standardization for a causal mean)
IPW averages under the observed population law. (Inverse probability weighting for a causal mean)
Under the stated consistency, exchangeability, integrability and positivity assumptions, the standardization functional equals . (Conditional-class standardization identifies a causal mean)
Under the same assumptions, the IPW functional equals . (Inverse probability weighting identifies a causal mean)
Verification
The two propensity values are and . Since , the observed treated means are and . Thus [F1] gives .
The treated joint masses are and . Therefore [F2] gives .
The target mean is . Consequently the two displayed population functionals agree with the target, as asserted by [F3] and [F4].

Dependency tree · two levels
28 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
