How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
The canonical algebra of a fusion category is Frobenius
Statement
Let be a fusion category over an algebraically closed field. Write , acting on by . Choose duals with and . The canonical algebra is , with multiplication induced by composition of evaluations and unit the inclusion of the unit summand. Projection to that summand makes a nondegenerate pairing. Its inverse defines a Frobenius comultiplication This comultiplication is coassociative, is a -bimodule morphism, and has counit , with . No nonvanishing dimension or pivotal structure is assumed.
Proof
Given: The action, duality convention, and field hypotheses in the statement. Associators and unitors are suppressed using coherence.
The direct sum represents by semisimplicity and duality. Evaluation therefore induces a unit and multiplication by composition. To specify multiplication without an implicit diagram, choose split matrix units and with and . The -to- component of is . This expression is independent of matrix units. In either iterated triple multiplication the inserted sums of matrix units are identities, so both products are composition of the same three evaluations. This proves associativity; the unit is inclusion of the unit summand.
The pairing has no component between the and summands unless is dual to . For a dual pair, the displayed multiplication shows its component is the tensor product of a nonzero projection with the dual of its splitting . These are perfect evaluation pairings between dual simple objects, by rigidity. Hence every simple block of the induced map from to its dual is invertible, proving nondegeneracy. Let be its inverse pairing, so . Associativity gives , and taking its mates gives . Taking mates once more gives and coassociativity; the inverse-pairing equations and give . These mate calculations are justified by composing with the perfect pairing; each resulting equality is respectively the associative triple product or one of the two inverse-pairing identities.

4 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
