How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A finite empirical measure is a probability law
Statement
Let be a measurable space, let , and let . Define
Then is a probability measure on .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A measurable space , an integer , points , and the displayed set function .
The Dirac set function at a point: when and otherwise.
Probability measures and probability spaces: a probability measure is a countably additive measure of total mass one.
Proof
Each summand in is nonnegative, , and by [F1].
Let be pairwise disjoint. For each , let . The sets are pairwise disjoint, and at most of them are nonempty, because each index belongs to at most one . Their union is . Hence the number of sample indices in is , and dividing by gives .
Steps 1.1–1.2 show that is a nonnegative countably additive set function with total mass one; by [F2] it is a probability measure.

5 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
