How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Random and systematic scan kernels are well-defined
Statement
Let , let be one finite-product state space with target probability , and let be exact Gibbs block-update probability kernels for that same , as in Random and systematic Gibbs scan schemes. If weights with are supplied, the random-scan branch defines a probability kernel on . Independently of any weights, the systematic-scan branch defines a probability kernel on .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The common finite-product state space, target probability, and finite list of exact block-update probability kernels in the Statement; weights are additionally supplied only for the random-scan branch.
Each block update is a probability kernel. The Gibbs block update is a probability kernel.
The random-scan evaluation is the finite weighted sum . Random and systematic Gibbs scan schemes.
Composition in chronological order is and finite composition of probability kernels is well-defined. Composition of probability kernels, Kernel composition is well defined and associative.
Proof
Given: The hypotheses in the Statement and facts [F1]–[F3].
For each measurable , the finite weighted sum in [F2] is measurable in by [F1], and it is nonnegative. For pairwise disjoint , countable additivity of each gives ; the interchange is valid because the sum over is finite and every term is nonnegative. Its total mass is . Hence the random-scan kernel is a probability kernel.
Each is a probability kernel by [F1]. Repeated application of the composition result in [F3] shows that is a probability kernel; associativity makes this finite product independent of parenthesization. This is the full-sweep transition kernel.

Dependency tree · two levels
14 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
