How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

The finite wiretap product law is stochastic

Statement

Use one-based coordinate labels for blocks: for an∈An, a function on {0,…,n−1}, write ai:=an(i−1) for 1≤i≤n.

For finite nonempty alphabets X,Y,Z, a stochastic kernel W(y,z∣x) from X to Y×Z, and every n≥1, the block formula

Wn(yn,zn∣xn):=∏i=1nW(yi,zi∣xi)

is a stochastic kernel from Xn to (Y×Z)n.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: A finite stochastic kernel W(y,z∣x) between the finite nonempty alphabets above and an integer n≥1.

[F1]

Finite stochastic kernels: a finite stochastic kernel has nonnegative entries and each input row sums to one.

Proof

1.1givenF1

Fix xn∈Xn. Every factor W(yi,zi∣xi) is nonnegative by [F1], so every product Wn(yn,zn∣xn) is nonnegative.

2.1F1step 1.1algebra∎

Finite distributivity factors the output sum as ∑yn,znWn(yn,zn∣xn)=∏i=1n(∑yi,ziW(yi,zi∣xi))=∏i=1n1=1. The row sums are one by [F1]; together with step 1.1 these are exactly the stochastic-kernel conditions.

2 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
