How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Private information is an average coherent-information difference
Statement
Let be a finite-dimensional channel with chosen complement , and let be a finite ensemble on with . Then
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The channel, chosen complementary channel, and finite ensemble in the Statement.
Coherent information equals output entropy minus environment entropy: for every finite input state and the chosen dilation.
Proof
Apply [F3] to and to every with . Write , , , and . The difference of coherent informations becomes .
Regrouping the finite sums in step 1.1 gives . Each bracket is the corresponding Holevo information by [F2], so their difference is by [F1]. Terms with are absent in both sums.
Remarks
For a pure-state ensemble every branch has zero coherent information, because a Stinespring isometry maps each pure input to a pure output-environment vector. Thus its private information equals the coherent information of its average input.

Dependency tree · two levels
23 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
