How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
The monotone IV reduced form is a complier-weighted effect
Statement
Under consistency, exclusion, joint instrument independence and monotonicity in the binary IV setup, with and , If , the right-hand side is .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A binary IV setup with consistency, exclusion and joint instrument independence, and monotonicity. Prove the reduced-form identity.
The observed reduced-form contrast equals under consistency, exclusion and joint instrument independence. (IV observed contrasts as potential-outcome contrasts)
Under monotonicity the defier event is null and almost surely. (Binary monotonicity excludes defiers)
For an event of positive probability, the event-conditioned mean is . (Binary instrumental-variable potential-outcome setup)
Proof
By [F1], the observed reduced-form contrast is . By [F2], replacing the treatment contrast by almost surely gives .
If , the definition in [F3] rearranges to . If , then almost surely, so both sides of the first identity in the Statement are ; the conditional mean is simply not asserted in that case.

Dependency tree · two levels
11 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
