How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Power series may be differentiated term by term inside their radius
Statement
Let and let be real coefficients such that for every both and converge. Then is differentiable for , with .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A field satisfying Dedekind-complete ordered real field, the continuity/differentiability definition Continuity and derivative on a real interval, and the real modulus rules Real and complex modulus product and triangle inequalities.
Continuity and derivative on a real interval: derivative means the finite two-sided difference-quotient limit.
Real and complex modulus product and triangle inequalities: and for real .
Proof
Fix with and choose with . For , the identity for and [L1] yield . Thus the tail of the difference-quotient series beyond degree is at most , uniformly for these . The tail of the proposed derivative series at has the same bound.
For fixed , the difference quotient of the polynomial tends to as by the binomial identity. Given , choose so both tails bounded above are below , then choose small enough that the finite polynomial quotient differs from its derivative by less than . The full difference quotient therefore differs from by less than , proving the derivative formula.

5 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
