How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Square root of two divisibility criterion in the eighth cyclotomic ring
Statement
For , multiplication by has coefficient vector . Consequently divides in exactly when and . Also,
and divides in exactly when divides .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: , , and .
Dyadic cyclotomic ring for Clifford+T synthesis: and ; the power-basis coefficients are unique.
Proof
Multiplying and reducing every power with gives . By [F1], this product is in exactly when all four displayed coefficients are even, which is equivalent to and even, or and . This proves the first criterion.
Expanding with and reducing powers gives the stated . Write and modulo . Then and . The pair is exactly for : the other three pairs give , , or . Since is in exactly when its unique power-basis coefficients are all even, equivalently when are both even, the norm is in exactly when , which by step 1.1 is exactly when divides .
Remarks
Here divisibility means divisibility by an element of : iff for some . The parity criterion is coefficient arithmetic, not an ideal-factorization assertion.

3 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
