How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Negligible Temperley–Lieb morphisms form a tensor ideal
Statement
Let . The subspaces of Negligible morphisms in the Temperley–Lieb category are closed under composition on either side by arbitrary Temperley–Lieb morphisms and under tensoring on either side by arbitrary Temperley–Lieb morphisms. Thus they form a tensor ideal.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The complex Temperley–Lieb diagram category for arbitrary , its unnormalized closure trace, and the subspaces .
Morphisms are linear combinations of noncrossing matching diagrams; composition stacks diagrams, removes each closed component with factor , and is associative (Temperley–Lieb planar diagram data and endomorphism modules, Stacking is associative and horizontal juxtaposition is strict monoidal).
For a basis endomorphism , the unnormalized closure trace is (Negligible morphisms in the Temperley–Lieb category).
A morphism is negligible exactly when for every (Negligible morphisms in the Temperley–Lieb category).
Proof
Let and be basis diagrams. The closed matching graphs defining and are the same finite graph: the two stacked layers are read cyclically from opposite interfaces. They therefore have the same number of closed components and the same coefficient . Bilinearity gives for all such rectangular morphisms.
Suppose is negligible, take arbitrary and , and test against any . The composite has type , so [F3] gives . By step 1.1, this equals . Thus is negligible, proving closure under composition on both sides.
Let be arbitrary and let test . Form by composing with and then closing the last auxiliary input/output points; each resulting closed component contributes its factor . The full closed matching graph for has exactly the same remaining components and the same removed components as the graph obtained by first making this partial closure and then forming . Therefore where the last equality is [F3]. This proves negligible.
For , let a test morphism be . Compose with and close the first auxiliary input/output points to obtain . The same component count gives . Thus is negligible as well, proving tensor stability on both sides.

An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
