How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Exact-success amplitude amplification query cost
Statement
For , the exact-success procedure uses forward calls to , inverse calls to , and calls in each declared flag/reflection coordinate. In the branch, the explicit preparation and iterates use forward calls, inverse calls, and controlled flag rotations or their inverses.
With constructed good reflections, the total number of or inverse calls is and there are gates. With directly supplied enlarged good reflections, these counts are instead flag calls and direct calls. Either mode implements exactly logical good reflections.
With constructed zero reflections, there are controlled- calls, Toffolis and gates. With direct enlarged-zero access, there are instead direct calls. One external clean scratch bit suffices for all constructed reflections and is reusable; no controlled call is used.
These counts exclude the one explicitly supplied terminal projective instrument and any final classical verification. If the terminal instrument is constructed as in the algorithm, add two flag calls, two Toffolis, one bit measurement and a second external clean scratch bit; thus the constructed-good-reflection total becomes flag calls (or with direct good reflections). Both scratch bits reset exactly. Exact-real arithmetic, qubit gates, workspace, measurement, gate synthesis, preparation and any final verifier retain their separate costs.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The exact-success algorithm and the separate access/cost coordinates.
Exact success amplification by attenuating the good branch: , satisfies , and each use of computes and uncomputes the good flag once.
Quantum query complexity: query calls are counted separately from gates.
Controlled Unitary Access and Inverse Unitary Access: controlled and inverse capabilities are explicit and separately charged.
Clean and dirty ancillas and Circuit-family and computation cost model: clean workspace and gate, preparation, and classical costs are separate coordinates.
Proof
In the nontrivial branch , . Since by [F5] and , . The direct branch uses a constant number of calls.
The initial contributes one forward , two flag calls and one controlled flag rotation. Each of the iterates contains one and one , contributing one forward and one inverse , four flag calls and two controlled rotations. Thus these parts contribute forward , inverse , flag calls and rotations. Each constructed good reflection contributes two further flag calls and one , giving flag calls and gates. Direct good-reflection access instead contributes calls of its own coordinate and leaves the flag total .
Each constructed zero reflection uses one controlled-, two Toffolis and four gates; repetitions give , respectively. Direct zero-reflection access instead uses direct calls. The same external clean scratch is reused, since the exact reflection constructions return it to zero. The optional terminal construction uses two flag calls and two Toffolis around one bit measurement, with a second external bit, so its addition gives the stated or flag total. No other step invokes ; the separately supplied terminal mode has no constituent flag count inferred.
The bounds in steps 1.1–1.3 are . By [F2]–[F4], they count only the declared query and access coordinates; exact arithmetic, synthesis, preparation, measurement, and any final verifier retain their separate costs. The success guarantee is [F1] together with Exact success for known positive amplitude with explicit dilution.
