How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Universal affine vertex algebras exist at every complex level
Statement
Let be a finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra, let be the normalized invariant form of Untwisted affine central extension, and let . The induced module of Universal affine vacuum module has a unique vertex-algebra structure in the convention of Vertex algebra in the state–field convention for which is the vacuum and This construction is valid for every complex level, including values at which a normalized Sugawara denominator vanishes. It asserts no conformal vector, simple quotient, unitarity, or integrability.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra, normalized invariant form, arbitrary complex level , and the induced affine vacuum module.
Universal affine vacuum module: has vacuum and current modes .
PBW basis of the universal affine vacuum module: ordered negative-mode monomials with span .
The universal affine vacuum module is restricted: every current is lower-truncated on each vector.
Affine current fields are local with the normalized current OPE: the current fields are creative, translation-covariant and pairwise local.
Mutually local creative generators determine a state–field map: a creative translation-covariant local generating family whose negative modes span the space extends uniquely to a vertex-algebra state–field map.
Vertex algebra in the state–field convention: the required state-field axioms are lower truncation, vacuum/creation, translation covariance and locality.
Proof
Let . By [F2], each basis monomial of is obtained from by successively applying negative modes of fields in ; hence their negative modes span the module. By [F3] these are fields, and [F5] supplies their creation, translation covariance and pairwise locality.
The hypotheses of [F6] now hold for , , , and , giving a state-field map with the prescribed currents and the axioms in [F7]. For any competing structure with translation , [F7] gives and , hence . By [F4], kills and commutes with every current mode, so it vanishes on the spanning monomials of [F2]. Thus , and uniqueness for this fixed translation in [F6] proves uniqueness of the entire structure.
Every construction and verification above uses only the affine bracket, the vacuum character at level , and formal field operations. No step divides by a function of or assumes a grading, positivity, or a Sugawara operator. Therefore the same vertex-algebra construction applies to every , with the claimed limits on its conclusion.
