How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Slow variation alone is insufficient
Statement refuted
Assuming Countable Choice, slow scaling by alone guarantees a uniform leakage bound for the pointwise ordered upper eigenspace of every finite-dimensional Hermitian family, even when its spectral gap may close.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: Countable Choice, in joule-seconds, an energy in joules, and a duration in seconds.
Countable Choice is The Axiom of Countable Choice (), the hypothesis carried by Physical adiabatic phase with explicit scale.
Physical adiabatic phase with explicit scale: under Countable Choice, a finite Hermitian family with a spectral projection followed continuously in operator norm and separated from its complementary spectrum by a uniform positive gap satisfies the stated leakage bound.
Counterexample
On , let , , and for . For the ordered upper eigenvalue is and its projection is ; for it is and its projection is . At , , so the degenerate upper eigenspace is all of and its spectral projection is ; the one-sided rank-one projections therefore have no continuous rank-one extension. The gap between the two eigenvalues is , which closes at .
The propagator from solves and is as direct differentiation verifies. In particular .
At the endpoints, and . Therefore for every . No finite constant independent of can bound this leakage by . The ordered projection fails the continuity and uniform-gap hypotheses in [F1].
The constant projection commutes with every and has zero leakage for all . At the crossing it is not the spectral projection onto the degenerate eigenspace, which is all of ; it is a continuous invariant rank-one subspace, not a coherently followed gapped spectral cluster. Thus the example refutes a gap-free uniform tracking claim for the ordered branch; it does not assert that every choice of state at a crossing causes transitions.
