How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A phase domain, its canonical one-form and its standard symplectic two-form
Definition
Let . A phase domain is a nonempty open set (The metric topology: a set is open when every one of its points has a ball around it inside the set; closed means open complement). Its points are written with and ; the coordinate functions are smooth ( Euclidean maps and diffeomorphisms), and is the coordinate frame (Directional derivatives and partial derivatives of a map ). On a phase domain:
- the canonical one-form is the smooth one-form ;
- the standard symplectic two-form is the smooth two-form (A smooth differential -form);
- the standard symplectic matrix is the block matrix whose blocks are .
The identity holds, because the coordinate formula for the exterior derivative (The local coordinate formula for the exterior derivative) gives . When is an induced chart domain of a cotangent bundle, the published Tautological one-form on a cotangent bundle identifies and with the tautological one-form and the canonical cotangent two-form in those coordinates; the present definition is the choice-free local coordinate model that the canonical-calculus items of this page use.
