How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Fixed-frequency reciprocal tensor medium

Physical scope

A local, linear, fixed-frequency macroscopic phasor model in a material-rest frame, on a bounded C1 Euclidean region, with continuous possibly complex tensor coefficients and C1 solution phasors. This definition imposes transpose symmetry as the reciprocal-coefficient condition; it does not assert causality, passivity, losslessness, existence, uniqueness, or empirical realization.

Definition

Fix a real angular frequency ω∈R and a bounded open region Ω⊂R3 with C1 boundary in a material-rest frame. Here a material-rest frame is the inertial frame in which every modelled material element has fixed spatial coordinates, as stipulated by the framework's material-closure postulate. A map in C1(Ω‾) means the restriction of a C1 map on an open neighborhood of Ω‾. Let ε,μ:Ω‾→C3×3 be continuous coefficient fields with units F m−1 and H m−1. They may be spatially varying and complex. Let Ej,Hj∈C1(Ω‾;C3) and Jj∈C0(Ω‾;C3), for j=1,2, be phasor amplitudes with SI units V m−1, A m−1, and A m−2. The corresponding real fields use e−iωt, for example Ejreal(x,t)=Re⁡(Ej(x)e−iωt). Their displacement and magnetic-induction amplitudes are Dj=εEj in C m−2 and Bj=μHj in T.

The fixed-frequency constitutive and source equations are

Dj=εEj,Bj=μHj,curl⁡Ej=iωBj,curl⁡Hj=Jj−iωDj.

All operators act componentwise on the spatial variable. For u,v∈C3, define the bilinear dot product u⋅v=∑r=13urvr and the complex-bilinear cross product by the usual right-handed component formula. Neither product conjugates either input. The transpose T is the ordinary matrix transpose, without complex conjugation. This definition calls the coefficient model reciprocal when ε(x)T=ε(x) and μ(x)T=μ(x) at every x∈Ω‾. It places no Hermitian, positive-definite, or passivity condition on these complex matrices.

This is a fixed-frequency phasor data class. Its possibly complex coefficients are not inferred from the framework's real, instantaneous material branch; a separate response model is required to justify any such interpretation.
