How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite channel families, semigroups, and CP-divisibility
Definition
Let and let be a family of finite quantum channels indexed by , where “finite quantum channel” has the meaning in Finite completely positive trace-preserving maps. The family obeys the semigroup law when and for every .
The family is CP-divisible when for every there exists a finite quantum channel such that . CP-divisibility is this specified factorization property; the definition does not assert that it is a universal meaning of “Markovian”.

Remarks
The source literature distinguishes divisibility and time-homogeneous semigroup conditions and discusses several meanings of quantum Markovianity. This item fixes only the map properties used on this page.
