How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Abelian local jet BRST differential
Definition
Use the smooth off-shell coordinate model , with in SI coordinates, metric , increasing as the future direction, and standard orientation. The scalar time-ordering convention sets , so is the length coordinate in that convention as well. Here off shell means that no field equation is imposed. Take smooth real components and a smooth commuting matter field . Use the normalized real potential and dimensionless coupling of the charged-gauge-data convention; has units , is dimensionless, and has units . The exact supplier convention is , , for a smooth dimensionless real infinitesimal gauge parameter .
Let be the free graded-commutative -algebra over generated by the finite jets of , , an odd ghost , an odd antighost , and an even auxiliary variable . Every element of is a polynomial in finitely many jet coordinates. The fields and have Grassmann parity and ghost number ; has parity and ghost number ; has parity and ghost number ; and has parity and ghost number . The ghost and nonminimal variables are formal algebraic generators; no state-space or positivity claim is made. The generators carry no physical unit assignment, and the differential below is dimensionless. The subscript distinguishes the ghost from the speed of light .
Let vanish on the coefficient algebra, so for every . Thus is -linear.
Define the odd derivation of ghost number by
Extend by the graded Leibniz rule for homogeneous , where is Grassmann parity, and by for every multi-index . This is an off-shell local algebraic differential for the Abelian gauge transformations; it is not a BRST charge on a Hilbert space and it does not assert existence of a gauge-invariant quantum theory.
