How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Four-dimensional chiral superfield on flat superspace
Definition
Let be the finite-dimensional supercommutative complex coefficient algebra, and let have ordered generators and the product, parity, derivatives and conjugation specified in the four-dimensional superspace Grassmann algebra. Let be the space of smooth coefficient functions; differentiates the real coordinate and acts trivially on the finite Grassmann basis. Use the mostly-plus metric and the matrices specified by the four-dimensional super-Poincare algebra. A chiral superfield is an even element satisfying the two equations
Define the nilpotent coordinate shift and . For a smooth coefficient function , means the finite Taylor substitution , with the term equal to and repeated spacetime indices summed; higher terms vanish in . The chiral components are the unique smooth coefficient functions and in
The total parity of every term is even. Define the remaining covariant derivatives by . Define the supersymmetry generators on by
To specify external odd constant parameters, let be a second copy of the four-generator exterior algebra, with ordered generators and the same signed subset-basis multiplication as . Equip it with the conjugate-linear, order-reversing involution and . The minus signs are the conjugation-compatible convention for parameters placed on the left: and then respect . The four generators remain independent over . Set , where denotes the graded tensor product: on homogeneous factors, with total parity and the order-reversing conjugation specified by the coefficient-algebra convention. This is again a finite-dimensional supercommutative coefficient algebra. Set and embed into it by . The parameters commute with even elements and anticommute with odd elements of both and .
Extend the displayed coordinate derivatives to by the same left-derivative rule, vanishing on ; extend and by their displayed formulas. In particular, an odd derivative or supercharge acquires a minus sign when moved past an external odd parameter. Define the even complex-linear variation by
For a chiral , the component transformation is the unique tuple of smooth -valued functions in the displayed expansion of , with even and odd. Chirality and uniqueness in this extended coefficient algebra are established by the local chiral-superspace identities. The same variation formula acts on if repeated variations with these parameters are desired; adjoining further independent parameter copies uses the same graded tensor construction. The space of fields is classical and smooth: the coordinate differential operators act on all of , or all of after scalar extension; no quantum-field operator domain or field equation is assumed. In natural units and . If is assigned, the formal component dimensions are , , and ; no value of is fixed. In the same natural-unit convention, , , and have mass dimension , while , so is dimensionless.
