How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Intrinsic localized pushforward for a proper fixed locus
Definition
Let act on a smooth separated finite-type complex variety with a finite invariant affine open cover. Let be proper, , , and the character multiplicative set. Every notation below means , the degree- piece of the localization of the total graded module. By the finite-affine-atlas concentration isomorphism, is invertible. Define the intrinsic localized pushforward
where is the genuine proper Borel–Moore pushforward. For a homogeneous and smooth complex dimension , an allowed insertion is ; the fundamental class is the complex-oriented class, not the cohomological unit . This construction does not define an ordinary pushforward along a nonproper map .

Proof
Given: The data in the Definition.
By [F2], is an isomorphism in each degree after localization, and on the total graded localization its inverse is a unique degree-preserving -linear map; its restrictions give the degree- inverses. The proper inclusion and the proper map give the stated Borel–Moore pushforwards by [F1].
Composition of the inverse with is therefore a well-defined degree-preserving map on the localized Borel–Moore groups. The insertion convention is well-defined because [F1] supplies the cap action and the smooth complex orientation gives degree . If is proper, functoriality gives , so . If , then is proper and [F2] forces the localized groups of to be zero, so the defined trace is the zero map. For , is trivial, , is the identity, and the properness hypothesis makes this the usual proper pushforward.
