How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Physical-time KMS strip equilibrium condition
Definition
Here a complex C-algebra is a complex Banach algebra with associative bilinear multiplication, submultiplicative norm, and a conjugate-linear involution satisfying ; unital means that it has a nonzero identity (C star algebra). A -automorphism is a bijective complex-linear map preserving multiplication and involution. Let be a strongly continuous one-parameter group of such automorphisms, so is the identity and . It is strongly continuous when is norm-continuous for each fixed . A state is a bounded complex-linear functional with and for every ; this is the state convention of Infinite algebraic state and finite-region restrictions.
Fix absolute temperature in kelvins and Boltzmann's constant in J K; the inverse-temperature parameter is , measured in J. Let the reduced Planck constant have units J s. Write , measured in seconds, and
A state is a -KMS state for in physical time when for every there is a bounded function (that is, ) that is continuous on , complex-differentiable at every point of , and satisfies
For the assigned quantum spin model, is the norm-completed quasi-local algebra of Norm-completed quasi-local quantum spin algebra and is the thermodynamic dynamics of Strongly continuous thermodynamic spin automorphism group, under that theorem's stated hypotheses. The strip width is in physical seconds; setting is a separate natural-unit convention. This is a mathematical equilibrium criterion for the specified algebra and dynamics. It does not assert that a model describes a material, that a system has dynamically relaxed, or that all stationary states are KMS.
Remarks
This definition takes the C-algebra and strongly continuous dynamics as its inputs. Its quantum-spin application is conditional on the exact algebra-completion and dynamics hypotheses in the linked suppliers; it does not prove those hypotheses or upgrade their draft proof status.
