How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Signed comparison of finite coefficient maps

Definition

Let u,v:X→R be finite-support real coefficient maps with equal total coefficient ∑xu(x)=∑xv(x). These signed maps are formal comparison notation, not compounds. Put d:=v−u and define d+(x):=max⁡{d(x),0} and d−(x):=max⁡{−d(x),0}. Then d+,d− are nonnegative finite-support compounds of equal mass, as verified in Spectator cancellation and signed-order algebra ↗. Define

u⪯sv⟺d−⪯d+,

using the compound comparison relation of Comparison and stability for compounds. Thus positive coefficients of v−u remain on the right and negative coefficients move to the left. Signed notation is never a claim that a negative amount of a physical system exists.
