How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Stationary thermal geometric data
Definition
Let be a smooth time-oriented Lorentzian four-manifold of signature in the sense of Smooth time-oriented Lorentzian four-manifolds: the geometric objects of the model, and let be its unique torsion-free -compatible connection supplied by Existence and uniqueness of the metric-selected connection of a nondegenerate metric, and its extension to tensor fields. Fix a nonempty connected open set . A selected stationary thermal carrier on consists of a smooth future timelike vector field and a smooth positive scalar field , where is measured in kelvins, such that is a Killing field of in the sense of Killing fields of a Lorentzian metric. Equivalently, the criterion is by Killing fields and conserved currents, and on-shell conservation of the Hilbert stress-energy tensor. The round brackets mean symmetrization with factor . The choice of specifies the thermal congruence; no coordinate chart or universal observer field is selected.
Set and . Then . In the length-coordinate convention , is dimensionless and is the physical four-velocity, with in . For a fixed Boltzmann constant in , define the inverse-temperature vector , with units , and the Killing-normalized temperature field . Thus ; this definition does not assert that is constant.
For a smooth chemical-potential scalar in joules, put , a dimensionless scalar. Define the rest-space metric, derivative, acceleration, expansion and shear by Here , and have inverse-length units; the physical proper acceleration is . The smooth tangent-bundle structure used by the cited GR suppliers assumes the Axiom of Countable Choice The Axiom of Countable Choice (); no stronger choice principle is part of this definition.
Remarks
The Killing characterization cited in the Definition is applied locally. For each , take a chart domain containing and orient by its ordered chart coordinates. The restrictions of and make an oriented time-oriented Lorentzian four-manifold, and is its metric-selected connection by uniqueness. Clause (a) of Killing fields and conserved currents, and on-shell conservation of the Hilbert stress-energy tensor therefore gives if and only if . Both tensors are restrictions of the corresponding tensors on , so their vanishing is equivalent on . No global orientation, or simultaneous choice of chart orientations, is required.
The data are mathematical fields on a connected open Lorentzian domain. No complete Killing flow, thermal state, KMS condition, material realization or empirical thermometer law is asserted.
For the adopted length-coordinate convention, take the spacetime coordinates (including ) and the local flow parameter of in length units, and take the metric components to be dimensionless. Then the coordinate components of and are dimensionless, so is measured in kelvins. A constant rescaling uses a dimensionless .
