How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
The driven oscillator: exact classical response of a coherent preparation and stationary fluctuations
A conditional computation in the declared driven oscillator model H(t) = H_osc - f(t) Q with a C^1 real drive: the exact mean position and momentum of a coherent preparation follow the classical forced oscillator through the free rotation plus the zero-data forced response, and the position and momentum spreads stay at their oscillator values. The example is a model computation; it asserts no laboratory oscillator, no measured amplitude or phase, no damping or driving source and no measurement record.
Example
Adopt P1, P2 and P4 in the readings of the declared driven model (The declared driven model: prescribed time-dependent energy families, propagator evolution and the two-level drive models clause (a)) and the one-dimensional oscillator model of The quadratic-potential oscillator model of the framework clauses (b), (c) with parameters , length scale , energy observable and position and momentum observables , ; adopt the coherent-state family of The coherent states of the oscillator model and the driven oscillator family with a declared drive read in , as an instance of the protocol's common-domain model of The common-domain driven model: strong propagator with domain invariance, and the driven oscillator as its declared instance clause (c). Let be the unique strong propagator of that family (which preserves ), and let be the classical forced response with zero data at : Then for every and , with :
(a) Exact classical mean position and momentum.
(b) Stationary fluctuations. the preparation spreads of position and momentum in the evolved coherent preparation are independent of and of ;
(c) Undriven check. if then and the means reduce to the free classical rotation of the coherent label;
(d) status. The statements are exact for the declared model and drive; no laboratory oscillator, drive source, damping or measurement record is asserted.
Verification
Given: the declared oscillator model with parameters , the coherent family , the declared drive , the driven family and its strong propagator ; the classical zero-data response ; the Axiom of Countable Choice and the Axiom of Choice as the choice hypotheses of the page's mathematics.
[L1] Explicit driven propagator. With , the Weyl operator is unitary, preserves , and on satisfies and ; for and the declared classical solution the family with is unitary, preserves , satisfies the strong Schroedinger equation for , and is its unique solution (Explicit unbounded oscillator propagator clauses (a), (b)); the family is admissible with the single domain by Driven oscillator common domain clause (c) and The common-domain driven model: strong propagator with domain invariance, and the driven oscillator as its declared instance clause (c).
[L2] Coherent means, evolution and spreads. For every , by The coherent states of the oscillator model clause (c); and for every real : ; the preparation means are , for every ; and the spreads are , with product (Evolution of the oscillator coherent states: classical mean motion and stationary fluctuations clauses (a), (b), (c); Fluctuations of the oscillator coherent states and the position-momentum relation of the model clauses (a), (b); The coherent states of the oscillator model clauses (b), (c)).
[L3] Readings. The means and spreads are those of the assigned sharp observables , in the evolved pure preparation of the unit vector in the reading of P2 (Assigned sharp observables and the outcome law of the framework clauses (a), (b), (e); The state space: density operators, pure and mixed states, and purity; State and composition postulate P1: Hilbert spaces, preparations and composite systems; Observable and probability postulate P2: self-adjoint observables, spectral probability and finite unsharp outcomes; Dimensions, SI unit conventions and quantity types of the framework); is unitary so is unit.
Proof technique: direct; write the driven propagator as phase times displacement times free evolution, then use the conjugation identities of the displacement and the free coherent formulas.
Given: the data of the Example and [L1]-[L3].
[Free coherent rotation] By [L2] with and : with ; hence and , while and .
[Displacement shifts the means, not the spreads] Let be unit and let ; is unitary and preserves , and , on by [L1], so and unitarity gives , so the spreads of equal those of .
[Both time orientations] For all use oriented integrals and , where for . Differentiating gives the declared equations and zero data in either direction; the energy of the difference of two solutions is constant and initially zero, proving uniqueness. Set and . The displacement identities of [L1] apply along every real trajectory, and the free group preserves ; their product derivative on each is justified by expanding as , using strong continuity and unit norm of and the fixed vector . Writing , [L1] gives . The differential equations give the coefficients and , so solves the strong equation with on either side of . The common-domain uniqueness in [L1] (or the constant-norm difference argument) identifies on , then on by density and unitarity. This is also the oriented extension proved in Explicit unbounded oscillator propagator Proof, the paragraph beginning “Let and be two -valued strong solutions”. For , all integrals vanish and directly.
[Total response] By step 1.3, with as in step 1.1, and the phase is irrelevant to means and centered norms; step 1.2 applied to the unit vector (unit by unitarity of the free evolution) and step 1.1 give with spreads and and product . These are clauses (a) and (b).
[Undriven check and scope] For the classical zero-data solution is (uniqueness of the linear initial-value problem), so clause (a) reduces to the free rotation, as in [L2]; the computation used only the declared model and its cited mathematics, and no laboratory, damping or measurement claim entered. These are clauses (c) and (d).
Remarks
- Why the response is exact. The drive is linear in , so the displacement operator converts it into the classical forced oscillator without approximation; the quantum fluctuations ride along unchanged. This is a property of the quadratic model and is not asserted for other drives or potentials.
- No classical limit is taken. The means obey the classical equations exactly for every coherent preparation, including small ; the statement is a theorem of the declared linear model, not an approximation in a limiting parameter.
