How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

GHZ transfer has persistent connected correlations

Example

Assume Countable Choice. Use the standard inner product on C2 and its ordered basis ∣0⟩,∣1⟩. For i,j∈{0,1}, let Eij∈M2(C) have entry 1 in row i, column j, and entry 0 elsewhere, with rows and columns ordered 0,1. For each integer N≥2, index the factors cyclically modulo N and let A0=∣0⟩⟨0∣=E00=(1000) and A1=∣1⟩⟨1∣=E11=(0001). The periodic trace contraction has amplitude tr⁡(Ai1⋯AiN) on basis vector ∣i1⋯iN⟩ and equals ∣0N⟩+∣1N⟩; after normalization it is the GHZ vector (∣0N⟩+∣1N⟩)/2. The transfer map fixes E00 and E11 and annihilates E01 and E10. With ρ=I2/2 and ℓ=I2, the associated infinite transfer state has ω(Z1)=0 and ω(Z1I⊗gZg+2)=1 for every integer gap g≥0, where Z=∣0⟩⟨0∣−∣1⟩⟨1∣ acts on one site. Thus its connected Z correlation is exactly 1 at every gap and does not decay.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: Countable Choice, the two matrices A0,A1, a ring length N≥2, the one-site observable Z, and the positive matrices ρ=I2/2, ℓ=I2.

[A1]

The Axiom of Countable Choice (ACω): every sequence of nonempty sets has a choice function, as assumed by the infinite transfer-state construction.

[F1]

Finite open MPS and injective translation invariant tensor: the tensor matrices have finite dimension and their transfer map is E(X)=∑i=01AiXAi∗.

[F2]

Transfer-generated infinite-chain state and correlations: the state is defined by ω(O)=tr⁡(ℓEO(ρ)), and insertions on separated blocks compose with Eg for a gap of g identity sites.

Verification

1.1givenF1algebra

Each Ai is the diagonal projection Eii. A product Ai1⋯AiN is zero if the word contains both 0 and 1, and is E00 or E11 for the two constant words. Its trace is therefore one exactly for those two words and zero otherwise, proving the unnormalized periodic vector formula. The two basis vectors ∣0N⟩ and ∣1N⟩ are orthonormal, so its squared norm is 2 and the stated normalization follows.

On the basis {Eij:i,j∈{0,1}} defined in the Statement, E(E00)=E00, E(E11)=E11, and E(E01)=E(E10)=0. Thus the fixed subspace {X∈M2(C):E(X)=X} is exactly span⁡{E00,E11} and has dimension two. Also E(ρ)=ρ, E∗(ℓ)=ℓ, and tr⁡(ℓρ)=1, so [F2] applies under [A1]. The insertion for Z is EZ(X)=A0XA0∗−A1XA1∗, whence EZ(ρ)=(E00−E11)/2, EgEZ(ρ)=EZ(ρ), and EZEgEZ(ρ)=I2/2. Therefore ω(Z1)=tr⁡(ℓEZ(ρ))=0 and ω(Z1I⊗gZg+2)=tr⁡(ℓI2/2)=1 for every g≥0. Subtracting the product of the one-point expectations gives connected correlation 1.
