How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: An inertial frame with chart , , the coordinate vector , , , and the boost parameter of The passive Lorentz boost with parameter beta (Inertial frames and inertial charts of the affine Minkowski model).
Pairing in the frame: for coordinate vectors , and is symmetric and bilinear (Inertial frames and inertial charts of the affine Minkowski model, Lorentz forms of inertia (3,1,0) on a 4-dimensional real vector space).
Causal classification and cone: is timelike when and future timelike exactly when in a frame with future first vector (Timelike, null, spacelike and causal vectors of a Lorentz vector space, The timelike set has exactly two convex components, described in orthonormal coordinates).
Rest-frame lemma: for a future timelike displacement with and , the vector is future unit timelike, and for every event there is an inertial frame with first vector ; in any such frame the chart assigns to the coordinates (Existence of an inertial frame whose time axis is a prescribed future timelike direction).
Boosts: for with the passive boost acts on coordinates by , , with ; for set ; for every , is a proper orthochronous Lorentz map with inverse , and if is future unit timelike with coordinates then ; for and the formula returns (The passive Lorentz boost with parameter beta, The passive boost is a proper orthochronous Lorentz map with inverse B(-beta), Linear and affine Lorentz maps, and the Lorentz group).
Square roots and monotonicity: every real has a unique with , so and ; for , (Square roots exist: a unique with ; the positives are , Squaring is monotone on the nonnegatives).
Order arithmetic: the order is trichotomous and transitive, and multiplication by a positive real preserves inequalities (Ordered field).
Verification
By [L1], , so and by [L5]; hence and .
For (a): by [L1], so is timelike, and , so is future unit timelike by [L2] and [L3].
For (b): with and , so is defined; , because and by [L5]; and , which is the displayed application of clause (iv) of [L4] to the future unit timelike vector .
For (c): the coordinate action of [L4] with parameter gives the column : from and , with spatial part , one gets and , that is ; for and one has and , so the formula returns , giving and ; and for it gives and , so ; these are the coordinate columns of the basis of the example, and for every .
For the orthonormality checks of (c): , , , , , and the remaining cross pairings vanish by the diagonal form [L1]; since by step 4.1 the basis is the image of the inertial basis under the proper orthochronous Lorentz map of [L4], orthonormality also follows from metric preservation, the first vector is future timelike by step 2.1, and the basis is positively oriented because is proper and preserves the oriented volume form and the orientation class; therefore is an inertial frame with first vector , as [L3] predicts.
For (d): by step 1.1 and step 4.1, so for the chart of the frame of step 5.1 linearity gives because ; in particular assigns to the coordinates , and the two endpoints of any displacement have equal spatial coordinates and time coordinates differing by .
Steps 2.1, 3.1, 5.1 and 6.1 verify (a), (b), (c) and (d) respectively: the example is the concrete instance , , , of Existence of an inertial frame whose time axis is a prescribed future timelike direction, and the displayed basis is exactly the basis constructed in step 4.1 and certified inertial in step 5.1.
