How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Redshifted cosine medium
One explicit compatible cosine profile in the fixed-lapse, externally supported parabolic heat model; the proper equilibrium is spatially nonuniform when the selected lapse is nonconstant.
Example
Use the box, positive lapse , constants, material and support of Conditional redshift heat relaxation. Assume is nonconstant on . Choose and with . Set
The unique redshifted-temperature solution and proper-temperature field are
The redshifted temperature converges to , while the proper temperature converges to the nonconstant profile . This is a calculated solution of the postulated model, not an observation about an actual material.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: , a smooth nonconstant lapse bounded above and strictly away from zero on , and with , all under the physical-model conditions of Conditional redshift heat relaxation.
Conditional redshift heat relaxation: the fixed model solves with zero normal derivative on each face, and its solution is unique for the stated positive even-reflected periodic initial data. It also gives and the limit .
Verification
Extend the displayed initial profile to all by the same cosine formula. It is , even and -periodic in every coordinate. Its values lie between and , so the strict inequality on gives positive lower and finite upper bounds. Its average on is , because the integral of from to is .
Put . Differentiating the proposed solution gives and , hence . Its initial trace is . Also vanishes at , and , so every face has zero normal derivative. Uniqueness in [F1] identifies this function with the model solution.
The exponential factor tends to zero, so . Because is time independent and positive, pointwise. The latter is nonconstant by the stipulated nonconstancy of . Direct integration using gives the exact norm . Thus this example realizes a decaying redshifted mode with a spatially varying proper-temperature equilibrium in the selected model.
