How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Bounded per-step state perturbations add a separate linear energy term
Statement
Use the analytic data and small step of Analytic Verlet retains order-two energy accuracy on exponential times. Suppose computed points satisfy , for , with small enough that all comparison segments lie in . Then
In particular the state-error contribution is for . This is a deterministic additive-error hypothesis, not an analysis of floating-point arithmetic or a claim of rounded symplecticity.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The stated computed points, perturbation bound, domain segments and analytic constants.
The exponential local state defect and bounded gradient follow from Optimal finite truncation gives an exponential local splitting defect and The optimal modified Hamiltonian differs from the original by order two; the modified flow conserves as proved in Analytic Verlet retains order-two energy accuracy on exponential times.
Proof
Per-step estimate. Compare first with and then with the modified-flow endpoint. Integrating the gradient along the two stated segments gives , using conservation at the modified endpoint.
Sum and compare. Summation gives . Adding the two endpoint bounds proves the displayed result, including and .
