How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Statement
Assume Countable Choice , the hypothesis of GNS Hilbert reconstruction with invariant operator domain. Let be a topological group with identity . Let be a unital complex star algebra with positive normalized state , and let be a group action: each is a bijective complex-linear map preserving product, unit and involution, with and . Suppose for all and . Also suppose that, for every , the coefficient function is continuous at .
Use the GNS representation from GNS Hilbert reconstruction with invariant operator domain, with common dense domain and cyclic vector . Then extends to a strongly continuous unitary representation , fixes , and satisfies
Here strongly continuous means that is norm-continuous for every . No differentiability, generator domain or spectral theorem follows from these hypotheses alone.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: Countable Choice , a topological group , a unital complex star algebra , a positive normalized state , a state-preserving action by unital star automorphisms, and continuity at of every .
GNS Hilbert reconstruction with invariant operator domain: the state has a Hilbert-space GNS representation on a common invariant dense domain , with , , and inner product .
By the action assumptions, each is a unital star automorphism, , and ; multiplication and inversion in the topological group are continuous.
For every , the scalar function is continuous at .
Proof
If , then , so . Applying the same argument to gives equality. For , , so is an isometry on with inverse induced by ; it extends uniquely to a unitary on . The action law gives , and .
For , , using the representation rule and multiplicativity of . This is the claimed covariance identity on the common domain.
For , state invariance and the quotient inner product give . The first cross term tends to as by [A2]. For the second, invariance gives , which also tends to by [A2] and continuity of inversion. Thus for every .
Let and . Choose with . Since each is unitary, ; step 2.2 makes the last term less than for sufficiently near . Hence every orbit is continuous at . For any , , so continuity of multiplication transfers continuity to . The unitary representation is strongly continuous on all of .
