How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Free massive test-particle action
Classical spinless structureless point test body with fixed primitive mass m>0 on a prescribed background; excludes self-field, radiation reaction, finite size, spin and quantum effects.
Postulate
Let be an open interval, and let be a future-directed timelike worldline on a prescribed smooth, time-oriented Lorentzian background of signature , with a fixed primitive mass in kg and in m/s. For any compact segment with , adopt the stationary-action model on that segment
Here is an open interval, is its real coordinate, and denotes . The future-timelike condition makes nowhere zero. On a neighborhood of , is (so its tangent is ). If is an increasing reparametrization with , then by the chain rule. An admissible variation is a family defined for , , and in a common neighborhood of , with , that is jointly in , has fixed endpoint events and , and remains future timelike for sufficiently small . The adopted motion principle is that on every such segment , the physical worldline satisfies for every admissible variation through . The integrand is the proper-time length density, so ; its dimension is action (J s). The adopted premise concerns this ideal free test body only. It is neither a theorem about all matter nor an empirical report, and supplies no backreaction or completeness claim. The flat ideal-clock specialization agrees with Adopted ideal-clock and ideal-vacuum-light interpretation; adopting this action on a curved background remains a separate premise.
The cotangent phase-space carrier convention assumes countable choice ACω only; full choice is not assumed.
