How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Ideal-gas LLF admissibility specialization
Statement
Fix , an integer , a width , a time step , and a periodic array of one-dimensional ideal-gas Euler states , indexed by . For each state set where At every face choose a supplied speed satisfying Use the symmetric HLL speeds and , so that Then for every cell ; in particular, each updated density and pressure is strictly positive. This conclusion is for the specified one-step symmetric branch and does not assert positivity for other HLL speed pairs or a fully discrete entropy inequality.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: , periodic states , face speeds satisfying the displayed endpoint bound and CFL condition, and the symmetric HLL update.
The input states satisfy and , and the chosen speeds obey and .
Euler state, flux, positive set and numerical roles: the Euler state domain is , the update uses , and the symmetric HLL middle flux uses , .
Symmetric HLL speeds preserve ideal-gas density and internal-energy positivity: for positive ideal-gas Euler cell states, symmetric speeds with at least the adjacent endpoint values , and , one first-order HLL update preserves .
Proof
Since every input state belongs to and , each and . Hence every , so is the HLL middle branch. The local update has , so the supplier's ratio equals and the local CFL condition gives at every face.
The remaining hypotheses of [F2] are exactly the stated input-state and endpoint-speed bounds, and step 1.1 matches its symmetric branch and CFL convention. Applying [F2] to the periodic array yields for each . By the displayed definition of , and ; multiplication by gives .
