How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Shared-face flux telescoping conservation
Statement
Fix γ>1, an integer N≥2, a cell width Δx>0, a time step Δt≥0, and periodic cell states Ui=(ρi,mi,Ei)∈Gγ for i∈Z/NZ. Assign one vector flux Fi+1/2∈R3 to each periodic face and use that same value in both neighboring cell updates Ui+=Ui−λ(Fi+1/2−Fi−1/2),λ=ΔxΔt. Define the total conserved vector before and after the step by M=Δx∑i∈Z/NZUi,M+=Δx∑i∈Z/NZUi+. Then M+=M. Thus the total density, momentum, and total energy components are unchanged by this periodic shared-face update. This algebraic conservation claim alone does not assert admissibility, entropy stability, or convergence.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: γ>1, N≥2, Δx>0, Δt≥0, periodic states Ui∈Gγ, one shared vector flux per face, and the stated update.
There is exactly one vector Fi+1/2 at each periodic face, and the update uses it with opposite signs in the two adjacent cells.
Euler state, flux, positive set and numerical roles: the one-step update is Ui+=Ui−λ(Fi+1/2−Fi−1/2) with periodic indexing.
Proof
Sum the stated update over the finite periodic index set and multiply by Δx. By [F1], the difference of totals is M+−M=−Δxλ∑i∈Z/NZ(Fi+1/2−Fi−1/2). [A1] ensures that the same face vector is used in each occurrence.
Periodic reindexing sends the list of faces i−1/2 bijectively to the list i+1/2, so ∑iFi−1/2=∑iFi+1/2 componentwise. The sum in step 1.1 is therefore zero and M+=M.
