How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Perfect-fluid exchange projections and conduction heating
Statement
Let be an open subset of Smooth formal matter, EM tensors and observer quantities. Let and let be future timelike with . Set
For a current with , define and assume the mathematical exchange equation . Then it is equivalent to the longitudinal and rest-space equations
The rest electric field of is . If for a specified scalar , then the electromagnetic contribution to the comoving energy balance is . For it is zero. The Ohmic relation is an additional constitutive hypothesis; no equation of state, entropy law, or fluid existence result follows.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The fields and regularity in the Statement, , , and .
Existence and uniqueness of the metric-selected connection of a nondegenerate metric, and its extension to tensor fields: is metric-compatible and its induced tensor derivative commutes with contractions and annihilates .
Product connection on tensor and hom bundles: the induced tensor connection obeys the Leibniz rule on tensor products and on scalar multiples of tensor fields.
The observer rest-space decomposition and the spatial projection: for every future unit timelike vector , the rest space has positive-definite restricted metric.
The current is the stated sum with ; no constitutive law is assumed until the final conditional clause.
Proof
Apply the product rule to the three factors of and use . The result is .
Contract this expression with . The normalization gives and ; also . Hence . Equating this with proves the longitudinal equation.
The map satisfies and , by and . Applying it to step 1.1 removes the term proportional to and gives the stated rest-space equation.
For any vector , . Thus if both displayed projected equations hold, the projections of onto and vanish, so that vector is zero. This proves the converse.
Antisymmetry of gives , so is orthogonal to . Since , is future unit timelike and ; [F4] makes . Therefore . If with , this is ; if it is zero. No sign or heating claim has been used without the stated current hypothesis.
Remarks
- The source-free and charged cases share the same projection identities. A general conduction current is not assumed to obey Ohm's law; Example Explicit local conduction-energy calculation ↗ supplies a local explicit instance of the optional branch.
- These equations are algebraic projections of a supplied balance law, not a global fluid evolution theorem.
