How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Explicit local conduction-energy calculation

Example

Let M=R4 with global length coordinates (x0,x1,x2,x3) and metric components gab=ηab=diag⁡(−1,1,1,1) in the coordinate frame ∂a:=∂/∂xa. Use this metric to raise and lower indices and its Levi–Civita connection ∇. Take orientation dx0∧dx1∧dx2∧dx3, future time-orientation N=∂0, and the positive parameters c,μ0 of Smooth formal matter, EM tensors and observer quantities, with x0=ct. Choose constants with SI units [E0]=V m−1, [χ]=S m−1, and [ϵi]=[p0]=J m−3, with E0≠0, χ>0, ϵi>0, and p0∈R. Let I=(−ϵi/(2χE02),ϵi/(2χE02)), which has units of seconds; put t=x0/c and restrict all fields to the open spacetime domain D:={x∈R4:t(x)∈I}≅R3×I. The maps E,B:D→R3 below give the spatial components relative to the positively oriented orthonormal frame (∂0,∂1,∂2,∂3), with ex=(1,0,0). Define

U=c∂0,E=E0ex,B=0,ϵ(t)=ϵi+χE02t,p=p0,σ=0,qa=(0,χE0,0,0).

Let F be the antisymmetric covariant two-tensor with F01=−E0/c and all other independent components zero, and set j=q. All the displayed scalar, vector and tensor fields are smooth on D. The interval gives ϵi/2<ϵ(t)<3ϵi/2 throughout D. The imposed field is a fixed background for the matter calculation; the nonzero current is not claimed to solve its Maxwell equation.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: The stated fields on R3×I, with χ,ϵi>0, E0≠0, and U=(c,0,0,0).

[F1]

Smooth formal matter, EM tensors and observer quantities: Tmab=(ϵ+p)UaUb/c2+pgab, EUa=FabUb, and the formal exchange force is fb=Fbcjc.

[F2]

Perfect-fluid exchange projections and conduction heating: if q⋅U=0 and q=χEU, then the comoving exchange term is −Ubfb=χg(EU,EU).

[A1]

The current is imposed as j=q with qaUa=0; the fixed F is not asserted to satisfy the sourced Maxwell equation.

Verification

1.1F1A1algebra

The constant diagonal metric has inverse gab=ηab=diag⁡(−1,1,1,1) and zero Levi–Civita Christoffel symbols. Thus Ua=(−c,0,0,0), g(U,U)=−c2, and g(U,N)=−c<0, so U is future timelike with the required normalization. The chosen q is orthogonal to U, and EU1=F10U0=(E0/c)c=E0, with its other components zero. Thus q=χEU. The stress tensor has Tm00=ϵ(t), Tmii=p0, and zero off-diagonal components, so ∇aTma0=∂0ϵ=(1/c)dϵ/dt=χE02/c while ∇aTmai=0.

2.1F1F2step 1.1algebra

Raising the first index with η gives F01=E0/c and Fi1=0 for i=1,2,3. Hence f0=F01q1=χE02/c and fi=0. The component equations verify ∇aTmab=fb, and [F2] gives −Ubfb=χE02>0.

3.1F1A1algebra∎

Since F is constant, ∇aFab=0, whereas −μ0j1=−μ0χE0≠0. Thus the matter exchange and positive heating calculation is conditional on the imposed background and is not a sourced Maxwell solution.

Remarks

The calculation is local and includes no equation of state, entropy balance, electromagnetic backreaction, or global fluid solution. The units [χ]=S m−1 and [E0]=V m−1 make χE02 a power density, but the example reports no measurement.
