How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Self-adjoint trace-Gibbs normalization and form-energy optimization
Statement
Assume the Axiom of Choice. Let be a separable complex Hilbert space and a densely defined Hamiltonian bounded below by . Assume is trace class for every in an open interval . For each , put and . Then and is a faithful normal density. For the entropy and optimization clause, fix (in SI units J/K), put and , and let be any normal density with finite spectral form energy Then has finite entropy and satisfies with equality exactly at . The prepared Gibbs state also has The trace-class and open-interval hypotheses are essential; a lower bound on alone does not imply finite .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The Axiom of Choice, the exact self-adjoint spectral PVM of , trace-class on the open interval , finite form energy of the competitor, and for the entropy and optimization clause.
The Axiom of Choice: the full Axiom of Choice is assumed for the unbounded self-adjoint spectral theorem and the trace-Gibbs supplier.
Spectral theorem for unbounded self-adjoint operators (PVM form) and Bounded borel pvm integral: has its regular spectral PVM; bounded Borel functions of are defined by spectral integration, and the spectral moment law uses its actual form domain.
Trace-class Gibbs normalization for a semibounded self-adjoint operator, fixed- clause: under AC, a nonzero Hilbert space, self-adjoint bounded below and trace-class , its injective compact exponential yields a complete energy eigenbasis, and a faithful normal density. Its interval moment clause is not used without the envelope proved below.
Summable canonical differentiation: a nonempty finite/countable canonical model with energies , weights and compact- summable envelopes has twice differentiable , finite moments and .
Trace-class cross-log entropy inequality: for finite cross-log moment, , and its equality case is .
Proof
By [F2], is finite and positive and is a faithful trace-class density with a complete eigenbasis of , , and eigenvalues . The spectral logarithm is on the corresponding spectral form domain.
Let be a normal density with the stated finite absolute form energy. Its cross-log moment against is because , and the absolute first-moment hypothesis permits the signed sum. This value is finite.
Let be compact and choose with . For , the function is bounded; for , is uniformly bounded over by compactness. Thus for a finite , for every and . The right side is summable because by [F2]. This is the exact uniform moment envelope required by [F3]; applying that supplier yields finite energy, finite entropy, and , with .
Since is faithful by [F2], . Apply [F4] to step 1.2: and with equality exactly when . Rearranging and using , gives the claimed inequality and equality case.
