How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Recursive multilevel MGRIT cycles
Definition
Input: levels with ; fine-grid systems of the form in The all-at-once bidiagonal time operator and C/F points; coarsening factors dividing with ; transfers from the F/C construction in A declared two-level MGRIT coarse-correction cycle; and pre/post-relaxations selected from its F- and FCF-relaxations. At each level , form the practical coarse matrix with identity diagonal blocks and subdiagonal blocks as in A declared two-level MGRIT coarse-correction cycle. Each noncoarsest level has a positive integer recursive visit count . Also supply an initial fine-level iterate, a chosen norm on the fine-level residual space as in A norm on a real vector space, the induced metric, and the dictionary with the metric axioms, outer cycle budget , and residual tolerance . The hierarchy must provide a nonsingular coarse system at every level and an exact solve on level . V-cycles use and W-cycles use . This algorithm gives no existence or convergence claim for a hierarchy that fails these input conditions.
For a recursive call at level , perform the following operations on an initial guess :
- If , solve exactly by forward substitution and return.
- Apply the selected pre-relaxation to ; compute and restrict it to .
- Set the coarse correction . Repeat times: form ; recursively apply the level cycle to from zero initial correction; then set .
- Correct and apply the selected post-relaxation.
Return the updated fine-level vector when the call completes. At level , check the residual before the first outer cycle and after every completed cycle; return status converged only when the residual tolerance is met. After cycles without a verified residual certificate, return the last iterate with status budget-exhausted. Inexact level solves contribute explicit update defects; no such defect is hidden in the exact-arithmetic cycle.
No two-grid contraction is transferred to this recursive cycle; convergence requires a bound for its actual full recursive error operator.

17 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
