How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Finite Hecke specialization and its regular-trace determinant

Definition

Let k be a field of characteristic zero, let S be a finite Coxeter generator set, and assume that the presented Coxeter group W is finite. Let C be the set of odd-edge connected classes of S from Universal parameters, the generic Coxeter Hecke algebra and generator conjugacy: one class joins generators connected by a chain of finite odd braid labels. Introduce one invertible parameter vC for each C∈C and put Rk:=k[vC±1:C∈C]. Let HRk(W) be the scalar extension of the universal Hecke algebra to Rk; its relations are (Ts−v[s])(Ts+v[s]−1)=0 and the Coxeter braid relations. By The standard basis of the generic Hecke algebra and base change, HRk(W) is a free Rk-module with basis (Tw)w∈W.

For z∈HRk(W), let Lz(a):=za. Define the trace of an Rk-linear endomorphism of HRk(W) to be the sum of the diagonal entries of its matrix in this specified basis. Thus the regular-trace pairing over Rk is BW(x,y):=tr⁡Rk(Lxy), with Gram matrix GW=(tr⁡Rk(LTxTy))x,y∈W and determinant DW∈Rk.

For a homomorphism of commutative rings ϕ:Rk→K to a field K, define the specialized algebra Hϕ:=K⊗RkHRk(W) and use the same symbol Tw for the specialized basis element 1⊗Tw. For z∈Hϕ, let Lz:Hϕ→Hϕ be left multiplication, Lz(x)=zx. The regular-trace pairing on Hϕ is

Bϕ(x,y):=Tr⁡K(Lxy).

Its Gram matrix in the standard basis is Gϕ=(Tr⁡K(LTxTy))x,y∈W, and its regular-trace determinant is Dϕ:=det⁡(Gϕ).

Remarks

The matrix of Lz in the standard basis has entries in Rk, so applying ϕ to that matrix gives the left-multiplication matrix on Hϕ. Since trace is the sum of diagonal entries, Dϕ=ϕ(DW). If another K-basis has coordinate matrix P∈GL⁡∣W∣(K) relative to (Tw), its Gram matrix is PTGϕP, so its determinant is det⁡(P)2Dϕ. In particular, nonvanishing of the regular-trace determinant is independent of the chosen field basis. The regular-trace pairing is distinct from the canonical symmetrizing trace pairing used on the preceding trace page.

An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
